STAFF REPORT Published: July 2, 2017 12:00 AM

The Twinsburg Baseball League announced it will host the fourth annual Twinsburg World Series of Wiffle Ball Aug 26 and 27 at Liberty Park in Twinsburg.

"What started as a fun idea to raise some money for charity and new baseball equipment for the kids of Twinsburg has turned into the biggest Wiffle Ball tournament in the world," said TBL President Rich Swerbinsky. "Last year, we had 72 teams enter, including teams from Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and from all over the state of Ohio.

"Based on the continued growth of the event, we're adding a fourth age division and several other enhancements to the tournament this year," he added. "We'll have a DJ and a snow cone station up at the park all day on Saturday, are greatly expanding the scope of concessions, and we're working with local businesses to add several other exciting activities and features for the players and spectators."

The tournament offers all teams two randomly drawn pool play games Aug. 26, with all teams that go 2-0 or 1-1 being seeded and advancing to single elimination championship bracket play Aug. 27.

he event is open to any residents of Twinsburg or other communities in four age divisions (7-10, 11-14, 15-29, 30 and up). Teams may be comprised of three or four players, with all players batting and three playing in the field each inning.
