Local gymnasts are hot at "Frozen" meet
On the weekend of Feb. 11-12, eight local gymnasts from Flytz Gymnastics competed at the "Frozen in February" meet in Independence. These gymnasts reside in Stow and train at Flytz Gymnastics in Cuyahoga Falls.
Level 8 gymnast Kaileigh Norton placed second on the vault with a 9.1, third on the bars with a 9.35, first on beam with a 9.05 and first all-around with a 36.3. This score was enough to earn her the "Snow Globe" Award for the highest all-around score in her division with all age groups combined.
Level 7 gymnast Kaylee McAfee had a great weekend. as well McAfee was second on beam with a 9.4, 2nd on floor with a 9.175, and second all-around with a 36.9. McAfee's scores were enough to help lead her team to a second place Level 7 Team finish.
Level 6 gymnasts, Grace Decker, Sophia Battenhouse, and twins Molly and Olivia Sabin, all did well at the competition. Decker placed third on vault with a 9.15, third on beam with a 9.125, third on floor with a score of 9.175, and third all-around with a 36.175.
Battenhouse placed third on the vault with a 9.1, first on bars with an 8.95, and third all-around with a 35.55.
Molly Sabin placed third on bars with a 9.45, first on beam with a 9.425, and second all-around with a 36.975. Olivia Sabin placed second on the floor with a 9.15. In addition, each of these girls helped contribute to a Level 6 team second place finish.
Level 3 gymnast Ellie Snyder also placed well with a second place finish on the floor with a season-high score of 9.3.
