Flytz gymnasts perform well at Spire
On the weekend of January 27 to 29, seven local gymnasts from Flytz Gymnastics competed at the All-Around Gymnastics Challenge at the Spire Institute in Geneva. This meet hosts thousands of gymnasts from several states.
These gymnasts reside in Stow, and train at Flytz Gymnastics located at 2900 State Road in Cuyahoga Falls.
Level 8 gymnast Kaileigh Norton was outstanding. Norton placed first on the vault with a score of 9.375, second on the bars with a 9.5, first on beam with a 9.25, third on floor with a 9.1 and first all-around with a 37.225
Level 7 gymnast Kaylee McAfee had a great weekend as well. McAfee was third on vault with a 9.525, third on bars with an 8.625, first on beam with a 9.45, seccond on floor with a 9.2, and second all-around with a 36.8. McAfee also helped lead her team to a first place Level 7 team finish.
Level 6 gymnasts Grace Decker, Samantha Tokar, and twins Molly and Olivia Sabin, all had fantastic performances at the competition.
Decker placed first on vault with a 9.55, second on floor with a score of 9.3, and second all-around with a 36.55. Tokar placed second on the vault with a 9.175, first on floor with a 9.45, and second all-around with a 36.525.
Molly Sabin placed third on bars, second on beam, and first in the all-around with a 36.675.
Olivia Sabin placed 3rd on the floor with a 9.3. In addition, each of these girls helped contribute to a Level 6 Team 1st place finish.
Level 3 gymnast Kyra Bukowski also placed well with a 1st on beam with a season-high score of 9.275.
Flytz gymnasts have travelled to Cincinnati, Solon, and Arizona so far this year, and have three more meets in Ohio and Indiana in preparation for their state meet in March.
