Almost all of the members of the Stow-Munroe Falls girls swim teams posted personal best times at the Division I sectional meet Feb. 4 to 6 at Ocasek Natatorium in Akron.
Qualifying for the district meet with personal best times in the 200 freestyle were Junior Tori McCauley (2:02.15), junior Maddie Dyer (2:04.59), and junior Lindsey Adkins (2:05.56).
Also swimming the 200 free was sophomore Erin Fenwick who swam a personal best 2:18.02.
In the 200 IM junior Ainsley Wilbur qualified for the district meet dropping several seconds (2:19.31) as did sophomore Kelly Vantrease who dropped four seconds (2:23.47). Sophomore Kirsten Earle swam a 2:34.51.
In the 50 freestyle sophomore Katie Kassenger went a 28.37, Hannah Evan (31.02), senior Rachel Moretti (26.75) and sophomore Erin Fenwick 27.14.
Junior Jenni Heid qualified for districts with a 1:03.12 in the 100 butterfly. Sophomore Sarah Kassinger swam a 1:20.03, senior Hannah Evan swam a 1:17.31 and Earle swam a 1:10.61.
The 100 freestyle saw three swimmers qualify for districts. McCauley swam the best of the three girls with a 55.59 followed by sophomore Kelsey Wenk who went a 56.38 and Adkins who went a 57.29. Head coach Dan Reese said, "Tori McCauley was outstanding for us on Saturday. She had the meet of her life from beginning to end." Moretti swam a 1:00.38.
Vantrease, Dyer and Wilbur all qualified for districts in the 500 freestyle. Vantrease went a 5:35.91, Dyer a 5:27.26 and Wilbur a 5:32.47. Both Wilbur and Dyer blew their previous personal best times out of the water by dropping almost eleven seconds each.
The 200 freestyle relay of Heid, Adkins, Moretti and Vantrease qualified for the district meet with a time of 1:44.50.
Wenk qualified for the district meet in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.87. Also swimming the 100 backstroke was sophomore Maria Doty (1:21.36), K. Kassinger (1:14.49) and sophomore Taylor Lewis (1:14.18).
Heid made the district meet in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:10.28. Freshman Gretchen Evan was just a second off from qualifying with a 1:17.57.
The girl's 400 Free relay team of Wenk, McCauley, Vantrease and Adkins was shooting to break the school record and recorded a season best time of 3:48.61.
