Stow-Munroe Falls boys basketball team upsets Brush

The Stow-Munroe Falls boys basketball team's Northeast Ohio Conference River Division title hopes ended long ago.

It looks like the Bulldogs are going to be a factor anyway.

Host Stow put a dent in Brush's River Division title hopes after posting a 66-57 victory at James G. Tyree Gymnasium.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 10-11 overall and 3-6 in the River Division. The Arcs fell to 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the division.

Hudson earned a 66-57 win over Twinsburg to improve to 7-2 in the division. The Tigers fell to 6-3.

The Bulldogs went on a 14-0 run in the first half to take a 32-18 lead. Stow led 37-24 at halftime.

Brush, thanks to its pressing, trapping defense, quickly trimmed the Bulldogs' advantage to 39-34. But Stow closed the quarter with a 13-4 run to take a 52-38 lead.

The Bulldogs never looked back the rest of the way.

Matt Beech led Stow with a game-high 27 points and teammate Jacob Williams added 26 points. The duo combined to make 17-of-21 foul shots.

A total of 49 foul shots were taken. The Bulldogs made 20-of-26.

Brandon Dawson led the Arcs with 23 points and Delvon Robinson and Christian Oakley scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
