Western Reserve Playhouse presents its 2017 season. "It Runs in the Family" by Ray Cooney, June 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17. Auditions are scheduled for April 2 at 3 p.m. and April 3 at 7 p.m. The production will be directed by Jim Volkert.
The Akron Zoo has some new residents and other residents who have moved to other accredited zoos based on Species Survival Plan recommendations from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The zoo has received a new red panda, Komodo dragon, a sun bear and two Humboldt penguins.
The Akron School for the Arts presents the Firestone Theatre production of "In the Heights" at 7 p.m. March 15, 7:30 p.m. March 16 and 17, and 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. March 18. The Tony Award-winning show will appear on the Firestone Community Learning Center stage for five performances.

CHAGRIN FALLS -- Chagrin Arts' second program of its 2017 Performing Arts Series will feature Paul Kushious, Cleveland Orchestra cellist, and other prominent Cleveland musicians in an intimate chamber concert. The program, titled Schubert's Last Dream, will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Stow Players will present a children's beloved favorite story, "The Velveteen Rabbit." Performances will take place Feb. 3, 4, 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the Stow Heritage Barn, 5238 Young Road in Stow.
HIRAM "Fired in Freedom," a showcase of ceramic works from nearly 20 artists, runs now until Feb. 22 at the Hiram College Gelbke Fine Art Gallery, 12000 Winrock Road, Hiram. The exhibition features ceramic pots and sculptures that were fired in the Freedom Township wood-fired kiln.

Auditions for Stow Players' spring show Stow Players has scheduled auditions for its spring show, "Sex Please, We're Sixty" by Susan Parker and Michael Parker. Auditions will take place Jan. 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. and Jan. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.
