Memorial Day ceremony to honor fallen soldiers

The annual Stow Memorial Day Ceremony, hosted by the city of Stow and the Acker-Moore Memorial Post, will honor those soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. The ceremony will be May 29 at 10:15 a.m. at the Stow Cemetery on Kent Road.

Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the advertising deadline for the May 28 edition of the Stow Sentry has changed. The deadline for a display ad is May 23 at 10 a.m. The deadline for a classified ad is May 25 at 3 p.m. The deadline to submit news items and Letters to the Editor is May 24 at 9 a.m.

The Summit Sportsmans Association sponsored its annual Children's Trout Fishing Derby on May 6 at Heritage Lake in Silver Springs Park in Stow. Despite the rainy and cold weather, more than 100 children, along with family members, turned out for a morning of fishing.

Annual ceremony honors fallen police officers, firefighters

The 8th Annual Jonathan Bastock Luminary Ceremony took place May 6 in the Stow Safety Center. event on Saturday night, honoring fallen police officers and firefighters. In 2016, there were 140 Law Enforcement Officers, 88 Firefighters and 33 K-9s who died in the line of duty.
