Summit Metro Parks is offering families two ways to end 2016 together. On Dec. 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the park district is hosting its annual New Year's Celebration at F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm (1828 Smith Rd., Akron), with free crafts, activities and refreshments.

Congratulations to Phebe Stucker. Phebe works part time in the city of Stow's Purchasing Department, Parks and Rec Department and Income Tax Department. Phebe is a swimmer and qualified for the Special Olympics State Competition that took place in Columbus Dec. 3 and 4.
Upcoming meetings Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education will have a special meeting Dec. 12 at 4:30 p.m. at NEOnet, 700 Graham Road in Cuyahoga Falls. The purpose of the meeting is the employment of a public employee; the Board will go into executive session and no action is planned.

Brecksville -- The National Park Service is seeking volunteers to be part of the hike, bike, ski and horse patrol group called "Trailblazers" at Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
There will be a Live Nativity Scene with Manger animals and characters at Stow-Glen Retirement Village, Front Lawn 4285 Kent Road in Stow, on Dec. 13, 4:30 to 8 p.m.
Unless otherwise noted, all library programs are free, thanks to the support of the Friends of the Library. The library is located at 3512 Darrow Road, Stow. Library Closings The library will be closed all day on Saturday, Dec. 24 and Sunday, Dec. 25. We will reopen at 9 a.m.
As conditions permit, sledding, ice skating, cross-country skiing and ice fishing may be enjoyed in select Summit Metro Parks locations, and several are lighted for after-sunset fun. Most park areas are open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Visitors must bring their own equipment.
The Breast Cancer Support Group will meet Jan. 6 at 12:30 p.m. in the Luther Room at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church located at 2113 Ravenna St., Hudson. Anyone newly diagnosed, in active treatment or having a history of breast cancer is welcome to attend. Bring a bag lunch.

A Christmas Concert will be presented Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Stow-Glen Retirement Village - Cedar Hall Community Room, 4285 Kent Road, Stow. Doors will open at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public and will feature The Cuyahoga Falls Community Band.
On Dec. 11 at 5 p.m., hundreds will gather at Silver Springs Cemetery in Stow at The Christmas Box Angel of Hope Children's Memorial to honor the memory of a beloved child or children.
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group Meetings The Alzheimer's Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter makes Alzheimer's caregiver support groups available free of charge, open to all caregivers, family members, and friends with a loved with affected by the disease or a related dementia.
On Nov. 23, the Kent State University Airport's Props-4-Paws program delivered 6,300 cans of wet food, 400 pounds of dry food, and other various animal care supplies to the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC).
Bulldog Bags, a weekend food program for eligible children in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District, will host a fundraiser Dec. 14 from 5-8 p.m. at Arby's on Norton Road in Stow. Bring your family and help support Bulldog Bags and the children in the community.
The annual installation of officers of Stow Lodge #768 Free and Accepted Masons was Nov. 22 at the Cuyahoga Falls Masonic Center with over 60 people in attendance. Installing Officer was James F. Easterling, Jr., while Keith W. Newton served as Installing Marshall, Brennan R.
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program provides gifts of new clothing and toys to thousands of children who otherwise might not have anything for Christmas.
HUDSON -- Residents looking for Santa should look for a big red barn. The Board of Trustees at Case-Barlow Farm, 1931 Barlow Road, have invited Santa to visit the historic farm Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children can write a letter or drop one off at Santa's Post Office.
