Obituary: William B. Nellis

William B. Nellis

Longtime Stow resident

William B. Nellis, 84, died Nov. 28, 2012.

The son of William Bryant Nellis Sr. and Emma Lois Niver, he was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Texas at an early age and moved to Stow in 1975. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. with 37 years' service.

He was a member of Grangers of America, Stow Community Garden Club, Stow Retirement Club, Silver Lake AARP and Stow United Methodist Church.

He served in the U.S. Army and received a commendation for his contribution to the intelligence effort. He enjoyed playing bridge, traveling with his wife, Betty, and attending many activities of his local grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents and brother, he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty; daughter, Lucinda (Jerry) Huffman of Dawsonville, Ga.; son, Brett (Joy) of San Antonio, Texas; son, Brad (Susie) of Twinsburg; stepson, John (Velda) Chadwick of Boulder City, N.V.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation and service were at the Redmon Funeral Homewith the Rev. Scott Hayward officiating. Interment was at Silver Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Stow, 4880 Fishcreek Road, Stow 44224.
