With the resounding rebuke of the Obama socialist agenda in Massachusetts, We the People must maintain our vigilance since this loss will only serve to embolden those who would try to force class warfare to further their agenda.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in our own city of Stow where what I believe is irresponsibility under the leadership of Mayor Karen Fritschel has endangered our fiscal well being. As reported earlier by the Stow Sentry, Mayor Fritschel believes it is completely acceptable to levy additional fees on vacant commercial buildings even while more prudent and knowledgeable Council members such as Matt Riehl understand that working with owners to promote business growth is the only real way to insure the success of Stow.
For far too long I believe the residents have allowed the mayor unrestrained abuse of our tax dollars while providing next to no city services and asking our hardworking police and fire forces to accept concessions to their negotiated pay plans in order to make up for what I believe are her fiscal mistakes.
No longer can we afford the policies and practices from the mayor's office to continue. All residents must understand that they have the capability to enforce term limits with their votes.
As we have seen in recent elections, Council members that fail to be responsive and look after the residents' hard-earned money have failed to be re-elected.
As Wendell Phillips once said "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." We should heed his wise words.
