Re: a letter, "Questions Obama's Christmas greeting," in the Dec. 27, 2009 issue of the Stow Sentry, criticizing President Obama's faith -- Obama has declared that he is a Christian and I choose to believe him, belief being one tenet of a Christian along with acceptance and love.
I am a secular humanist and I do know how to and do lead a moral life. And as a secular humanist, I approach all others with an air of expectation -- knowing that these "others" have much to offer -- that I just have to be open to them.
As for our American heritage, many came to our shores, seeking relief from oppressive dogma -- just to, in turn be caught up in the same conduct from which they fled. So much for this kind of heritage.
