Stow Historical Society announces schedule
The Stow Historical Society has finalized its 2008 meeting and events schedule. General membership meeting programs begin at 7 p.m. at the Stow Safety Center Community Room, 3800 Darrow Road.
The May 27 meeting will include a speaker, to be announced during a later date.
The Sept. 27 meeting will include a presentation from Judy James of the Akron Public Library on genealogy.
Mary McClure will discuss the High Bridge Glens during the Oct. 27 meeting.
The Nov. 24 meeting is a general membership meeting, with the election of the Society's officers and trustees scheduled. The Crooked Stick Award for exemplary service to the Society will be presented. A short entertainment program will follow the presentation.

Historical homes to open
The Stow Historical Society has scheduled open house events for its historical homes. The Heritage House Museum will be open July 13; the Darrow House will be open Aug. 10; the Mary Starr House will be open Sept. 14; and the Society's Workshop will be open Oct. 12. Each open house event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m.
The houses are in the Heritage Reserve Park at Silver Springs Park at the Young Road entrance.
Festivals planned
The Stow Historical Society is hosting two festivals to help raise funds to continue to maintain its historical houses and areas. Joshua Stow Fest is scheduled for June 21 and 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Reserve Park. This year, the festival will be part of the Stow Township Bicentennial's car tour, which includes areas in Cuyahoga Falls, Munroe Falls and Hudson. The festival will provide historical house tours, crafts, children's activities, food and entertainment.
The Harvest Festival is scheduled for Oct. 18 and 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Reserve Park. The festival will be highlighted by the making of apple butter on Oct. 18 by the Society, with historical house tours, crafts, children's activities, food and entertainment.
