Stow -- The horseshoes competition of the Tri-County Senior Olympics will take place May 8 at 1 p.m. at Silver Springs Park in Stow.

With more than 20 sporting events taking place through May 22 "all over the county," the competitions are open to participants 55 years of age or older, said Carol Scarpitti, Stow senior citizens coordinator.

Scarpitti said there is a $15 registration for Tri-County Senior Olympics events. Participants compete with members of their own age group.

According to the Ohio Senior Olympics Web site, eight regional competitions for the Ohio Senior Olympics take place each year.

The event is sponsored by The University of Akron and local parks departments.
