Stow -- A homeless man will serve 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to several offenses related to a March 1 police chase that began in Cuyahoga Falls and ended in Stow.
According to Summit County Court of Common Pleas Judge Judith Hunter's office, 32-year-old Robert Needs pleaded guilty April 22 to failure to comply, burglary and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Hunter sentenced Needs the same day.
Needs' attorney, Tony Dalayanis, did not return calls for comment by press time.
At approximately 3:20 a.m. on March 1, Stow Police Lt. Rick Myers said Stow Police clocked a vehicle driving 87 mph on Graham Road while it was fleeing Cuyahoga Falls Police.
Several minutes later, Stow officers found the vehicle abandoned on the northbound side of Route 8, near Action Door on Hudson Drive, according to Myers.
He said officers followed footprints to a Hudson Drive home that had been entered through the back door.
Myers said police entered the home and found Needs, whose last known address was in Kent, behind the residence's door.
Myers said police believe Needs was the owner and driver of the vehicle found on Route 8.
Needs has no current listed address, said Myers.
