RUTH M. MCDONNELL

Ruth M. McDonnell (nee Murray), 84, died March 28, 2008.
Born in Cuyahoga Falls, she attended Sacred Heart Academy, graduated from St. Vincent High School, received her nursing degree from St. Thomas School of Nursing and performed her post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins University. She retired as surgical supervisor from Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital and enjoyed volunteering there after her retirement. A resident of Stow since 1964, she was a devout Catholic with a special devotion to the rosary and was a longtime member of Holy Family Parish. Mrs. McDonnell also was a member of AORN and the Stow Sunshiners.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 1997; daughters Anne Elizabeth and Mary Joan McDonnell; brothers Tom, Bill and the Rev. Joseph; and sisters Isabelle, Sister Mary and Sister Dorothy. She is survived by children Ralph (Linda Law) McDonnell of Hudson, Susan (Bob) Donahue of Akron, Teresa (Jim) Powers of Stow and Linda McDonnell of Santa Monica, Calif.; grandchildren Jim and Anne Powers, Kevin, Christopher, Ryan and Brendan Donahue, Karin McDonnell and Graeme Little; sister Rose Murray; and brother Dick Murray.
Visitation was at Redmon Funeral Home with Mass of the Christian Burial at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery.
