World War II veteran

John Rodgers, 81, died March 9, 2008.

Mr. Rodgers was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Pitcairn, Pa. He and his wife, Marie, were residents of Stow for 34 years before moving to Boulder City, Nev. Mr. Rodgers served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was an inspector for the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Ford Motor Co. Mr. Rodgers belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the UAW.

Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by wife Marie; brothers Robert and William; and sisters Grace, Eleanor, Mary, Sara, Dorothy and Irene. He is survived by daughter Nancy Richner (Larry) of Boulder City, Nev.; son John (Rose Marie) of Stow; grandchildren John Richner and Dean Richner of Boulder City, Nev., Jill Lynch of Henderson, Nev., David Richner of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Rowan Rodgers of Berea, Kevin Rodgers of Doylestown, Aaron Rodgers of Wadsworth and Amy Dotson of Cuyahoga Falls; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private burial was at Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev. Donations in John's memory may be made to Boulder City Hospital Long Term Care, 901 Adams Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005, or to the Homestead of Boulder City, 1401 Medical Park Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
