The Stow Monroe Falls Band program is truelly great. I am a sophmore trumpet player and i can homestly say that i love band. This year the band has over 260 members. With such a large amount of people we can make some pretty amazing things on the field. Under the direction of Brian Monroe, Greg Newman, and Sam Sandman, we as a band have been able to put together more than 50 pages of direction. That is the most its ever been. To get that all down the band goes to band camp at Edinboro University. We stay there for a week and march for 6 hours a day. The band plays numerous pieces of music. 6 songs for show show (half time music at football games), 3 songs for the seniors, and a couple more songs ment to cheer on the football team. Band members are expected to memorize all that music. To make sure that we do, members have to play the music from memory for a grade. That can be challenging if you play a fall sport, such as soccer, because sometimes you are forced to skip out on Thursday practice. What that means is that they have less time to practice their music. Another thing about the Stow Band is that it isnt limited only to Stow. Nor Ohio for that matter. Once every 4 years (this would be one of them) the band goes down to Disney World in Flordia. We go down there to march as one of the many marching bands from all over the county in a show. I feel priveleged to be able to go down there. Band is alot of fun and now that i look back on all the things that we have accomplished this year, i cant help but feel a sense of pride.
So if you've got Friday night open and wanna see something petty uber come to the football game and check us out.
