New Curators/Archivists Joy Glasser and Mike Daly have begun their duties at the Munroe Falls Historical Society as of Feb. 22. They will be introduced to the general membership at the March 11 meeting, at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. After the retirement of 18-year veteran Curator Marilyn Lown, the Executive Board sought applicants to fill the position for Munroe Falls. Through the direction of the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, responses to the request came through the Kent State University School of Library Science. Glasser and Daly both are students of library science at the university, and both have much experience and knowledge and interest in archives, genealogy, history and more. They will share this with the membership and guests at the meeting in March. Both have thoroughly enjoyed going to the museum and viewing all the special treasures, reading the descriptions, talking with Millie Chrin while she weaves and seeing the possibilities that exist for retaining the integrity of the museum and its contents. They both have "new" ideas for the "old" things to be exposed to the community, via Internet, programs and open houses. At the same time, they have both marveled at the work that has been done by Marilyn Lown and the many volunteers. They look forward to meeting the membership and sharing their love of history and our museum with one and all. According to James Case, president of the historical society, Daly has offered to open the museum on Mondays for volunteers to come and talk or work as they'd like. And Glasser has been visiting the museum to let her imagination grow with ideas to make it even better known to others. Refreshments will be served at the March 11 meeting. The museum is open the third Sunday of each month, except for January, July and August, from 2 to 4 p.m. April roundtable to stir up memories The April meeting will be a "sit down" for past Munroe Falls folks, as well as those who still reside here in the former village of Munroe Falls. The idea was renewed at the December Annual Luncheon and meeting by Brian McCormick, who is an "old-timer" in Munroe Falls. There will be stories shared about the community that possibly haven't been heard in the past. All are invited to participate, either in person, by e-mail or by "snail mail." Contributions will be included. Bring photos, yearbooks and letters, to display, if desired. Anyone interested is invited to informally meet at the City Hall Council Chambers on April 15, at 7 p.m. Pass the word along to old friends and neighbors and relatives who would enjoy a Roundtable of Memories about Munroe Falls, Ohio.
