Stowsentry.com - SMFHS musicians compete at solo, ensemble event

On Feb. 13, more than 80 Stow-Munroe Falls High School Band students competed at the Ohio Music Education Association Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event at Crestwood High School in Mantua.

Of the 54 events entered, 40 received "superior" ratings, 12 received "excellent" ratings and two received "good" ratings. Student are judged individually on a state standard by music teachers from across the state. Students may earn a Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair or Poor rating.

Students receiving a Superior Rating as a soloist are: Matthew Barnett (clarinet), Andy Walls (tuba), Kristin Holm (oboe), Amanda Gopp (alto saxophone), Sarah Powell (flute), Michael Walsh (trumpet), Josh Sandman (snare drum & piano), Sarah Shumway (trumpet), Neil Lantry (snare drum), Ryan Hamilton (timpani), Thomas O'Malley (French horn), Cassidy Pittman (flute), Julie VandenBulke (flute), Ashley Martinez (alto saxophone), Kim Lewis (flute), Ryan Gopp (alto saxophone), Carly Stuneck (clarinet), TJ Briggs (tenor saxophone), Maria Archer (oboe), Vince Petrecca (tuba), Michael Pribula (tuba) and Shannon Hoffman (piano).

Students receiving an Excellent Rating as a soloist are: Spencer Daddario (snare drum), Madison Reiiheld (clarinet), Shawn O'Malley (tuba), Michael Walsh (piano), Brian Thiese (trombone), Caitlin Bockbrader (clarinet), Kayla Anderson (trumpet) and Zach Halasz (trombone).
