The Church
in Silver Lake

The Church in Silver Lake is beginning a time of meditative prayer in the sanctuary on Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then again from 5:15 to 6 p.m.

The youth groups are swinging into gear: Junior High meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. and Senior High meets every Sunday from 5:15 to 6 p.m.

The hot meal to the community, "Lunch On Us," is served the first Saturday of each month at 11:30 a.m. Worship is Sunday mornings at 10:30 with coffee and light refreshments following.

Cornerstone Community Church

Cornerstone Community Church invites everyone in and around Stow to a very special series of messages designed to address the hurts, habits and hang-ups everyone has and with which they struggle.

The messages come from "The Beatitudes" which are part of The Sermon on the Mount in the 5th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew in the Bible.

Baptist Church

Sunday School takes place at 9:45 a.m. for all ages, with worship at 11 a.m. Sunday evening worship is at 6 p.m.

Adult Bible study takes place at the church Wednesdays at 7 p.m., as does a youth group meeting and TeamKid for first- through sixth-graders.

First Congregational Church

On Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a Blue Christmas Service at First Congregational Church of Tallmadge to help bring strength, courage and peace during this holiday season. Following the service light refreshments will be served.

First Congregational Church of Tallmadge invites people to enjoy a children's Christmas musical on Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m. The church invites people to join the congregation with a lunch and children's performance. For those who would like to come, contact the church office, 330-633-4931.

Church of Stow

First Christian Church of Stow's Sunday services include worship in the chapel at 8:30 a.m., Christian Education classes for all ages from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and worship in the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m. Youth groups for sixth- through 12th-graders meet each Sunday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Nursery care is provided during all services.

Kindergartners through fifth-graders begin worship in the sanctuary and then attend their own "Junior Church" after the Children's Sermon time. Communion is shared each week during both worship services.

There also are four other Adult Sunday School classes, and classes for preschool students through high school students.

Fishcreek Nazarene Worship Center

On Sundays, Fishcreek Nazarene Worship Center has 9:30 a.m. Sunday School with classes for all ages and 10:45 worship celebration.

On Wednesday evenings, the center offers The Gathering Place, with a 5:30 p.m. dinner gathering and 6:45 p.m. prayer gathering. Nursery and child care are available for all events.

There is also a Caravan Scouting program on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Grace Baptist Church

Grace Baptist Church invites everyone to an evening Christmas celebration, taking place at the church. The Grace Worship Ministry will present "The Promise of Light," a musical celebration of God's gift of eternal light to mankind Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. There is no charge to attend, and tickets are not required. "The Promise of Light" hopes to be a sacred addition to the holiday season. All who attend will enjoy an evening of familiar and new Christmas music presented by the adult choir and accompanied by several instruments including the church's tone chime choir. Following the performance, Dr. Bruce Chouinard, pastor, will offer a brief reflection, and all are invited to stay for a cookie reception.

Grace Baptist Church is located at 5915 Rhodes Road (behind Gabriel Brothers) in Kent. Grace Bible Church

Grace Bible Church, located at 2474 Graham Road in Stow, just east of Charring Cross, has a worship gathering on Sunday mornings from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Nursery and early children's classes are available.

Grace Bible Church is being led by the Rev. Jim Brown, pastor, in a new series "With Jesus in the School of Discipleship." It is a chronological and expositional look at the signs and teachings of Jesus that focused on the training of His disciples -- with an eye to how Jesus trains us today using those same recorded lessons.

The men's ministry is receiving donations to their missions trip to the Dominican Republic where they will serve to build a community center for seven villages in a remote area.

United Church of Christ

Everyone is invited to attend the next spaghetti supper Jan. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. Prices are: $7 for adults; children 12 and under are $3. Chef salad and carry-out are available. There is no spaghetti dinner in December.

Delicious Christmas cookies will be on sale Dec. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cookies are $3.75 per dozen.

Silent Auction Baskets -- Gift baskets for the Silent Auction are on display. The public is invited to make bids on these baskets. The auction concludes on Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. during the Annual Christmas Cookie Sale.

Worship begins at 10:30 am. Nursery care is provided for children through age 4.

Children's Sunday School takes place during worship, after the children's sermon.

Adult Sunday School classes meet Sunday before worship, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. The Bible Class is studying the gospel of John, and meets in the parlor. The Friendship Group is studying James Moore's book, "Faith Is the Answer, But What Are the Questions?" and meets on the lower level.

Stow United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Church in Stow will have an Advent Dinner on Dec. 16 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Cost is $5/adults and $3/children. An Advent Study will be at 7. p.m. that night with Rev. Scott Hayward.

On Dec. 20, children from Jubilee Jam will present the Christmas play, "Miracle on Fishcreek Road" at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge. A birthday party for Jesus will follow in Fellowship Hall.

Services on Dec. 20 will be a series of Lessons and Carols at the regular worship times of 8:30 a.m. (contemporary) and 10:45 a.m. (traditional). Sunday School for all ages is at 9:30 a.m.

P.U.S.H. -- Pray Until Something Happens -- occurs on the first Sunday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m. People are encouraged to use the church sanctuary for quiet prayer and reflection.
