Stow City Council will see two new faces, while Munroe Falls City Council will begin the new year with first-ever ward representation and two new faces also. In the Stow Council at-large race for three seats, incumbents Janet D’Antonio and Sara Drew will be joined by newcomer Mike Rasor, who garnered the top number of votes, according to final but unofficial results from the Summit County Board of Elections. Rasor received 4,452 votes, followed by D'Antonio with 4,011 and Drew, 3,977 Incumbent and Council president Ron Alexander was not returned by voters, coming in fourth with 3,864 votes. Challengers Brian Lowdermilk and Elgie Underwood finished fifth and sixth, with 3,410 and 3,244 votes, respectively For Stow Council Ward 1, incumbent Matt Riehl won over challenger Doris Stewart, with 1,557 votes to 751. In Ward 2, incumbent Jim Costello won re-election over Mark Hicken, 1,222 to 768. In Ward 3, incumbent John Pribonic also held on to his seat, beating challenger John Wysmierski 1,049 to 751. In Ward 4, incumbent Mary Bednar lost her write-in battle to retain her seat to challenger Joe Hicken. Hickin garnered 1,104 votes to Bednar's 759. For Munroe Falls Council, incumbent Cathy Laubaugh in Ward 1 and newcomer Sam Busic in Ward 3 won as unopposed candidates. Two present Munroe Falls at-large Council members, Ron Meyer and Nicole Welsh, vied for the Ward 5 seat, with Meyer victorious with 186 votes to Welsh's 113. This year’s election was a first for the city voters. City Council representation by wards will be established for three of the city’s six wards in the upcoming general election, a change from the present setup of all at-large representation. For the one at-large seat, incumbent Mike O’Donnell lost to challenger Steve Stahl. Stahl received 982 votes, followed by challenger Jim Iona with 319 and O'Donnell, 260. For the Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education, incumbents Richard E. Spangler and Karen Wright were re-elected over challenger Lisa Johnson-Bowers.
