A burning effort to help RPC Photo / Robert J. Lucas Area police officers joined the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit the Special Olympics June 24. Legs of the Ohio Torch Run traveled from Cincinnati, Toledo, Ashtabula, Cleveland, Cambridge, Athens and Marietta. During the run, more than 1,200 Ohio law enforcement officers will carry the flame. The Torch Run in 2008 raised more than $400,000 for Ohio Special Olympic Athletes and athletic programs. Pictured are, from left, Stow Police Lt. Jeff Film and Chief Lou Dirker, Hudson resident and Special Olympic athlete Dave Spurlock, Hudson Police Sgt. Kevin Gahagan, Officer Jim Curtin, and in the back, Officer Mike Walker.
