DOROTHY AMELIA VAN WERT NAYLOR MYERS Learned to ski at age 65 Dorothy Amelia Van Wert Naylor Myers died June 9, 2009. She was born July 27, 1923, in the small town of Pecksville, Pa., to parents Grace Amelia Brock Van Wert and William Benson Van Wert. She graduated with honors from Blakely High School in Pecksville, where she also served as a class officer. She later earned an associate's degree in business science from Scranton-Lackawanna Junior College, also with honors for achievement. She continued her lifelong learning experiences at the Ohio State University, Bowling Green University, Malone College and the University of Akron. Her professional career included 11 years of service with Revco Drug Store Inc., where she served as an administrative assistant responsible for executive office operations. She oversaw numerous special projects including continuing education programs for more than 4,000 pharmacists. After her retirement, she enjoyed working part-time at Kent State University registration office, as an enumerator for the Census Bureau and as editor of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent newsletter. She was also an active member of the League of Women Voters and the Kent Environmental Council. An avid gardener, she often gathered friends and family in her garden, where she delighted in planning seasons of colorful blooms. She learned to ski at the age of 65 and enjoyed both cross country and downhill. She is survived by her husband, Dr. R. Thomas Myers; two sons, William Brock Naylor and James Alan Naylor; and three grandchildren. A memorial service took place at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent.
