Soccer squad earns tie with Hudson

The Hudson boys soccer team still has a chance to capture the Northeast Ohio Conference Valley Division title after earning a 3-3 tie with rival Stow-Munroe Falls Oct. 7 on the road.
The Explorers are 8-3-3 overall and 3-0-1 in the division. Stow is 10-2-2 and 2-1-1 in the division. As of press time, Strongsville was undefeated in division play.
Hudson is scheduled to host Strongsville in its season finale Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Dante Lavelli Stadium.
Against Stow, the Explorers had a 2-0 lead at halftime and a 3-1 advantage in the second half.
Colin Niemczura found the net first for Hudson in the 23rd minute. Danny Tebbutt made it 2-0 with a header off a free kick from Tommy Fitzgerald in in the 33rd minute.
Stow got on the board when Aaron Salwan found the net in the 55th minute. But Bobby Healey made it 3-1 when he headed Stephen Nelson's free kick in the 62nd minute.
Thirty seconds later, Stow cut Hudson's lead to 3-2 when Kyle Quinn finished on a throw-in from Brett Dillinger.
Steve Grater tied the game with three minutes left when he scored on a penalty kick.
