Special Olympics outing planned

The Greater Akron and Hudson chapters of International Referral Network will co-sponsor the third annual charity golf outing for the benefit of the Special Olympics Team of Hudson.

The event is scheduled for May 22 at the Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club in Hudson, with registration at 9 a.m. and a 10:30 shotgun start. The deadline for registration is May 15.

The cost of the event is $80 per golfer and will include 18 holes of golf, a bucket of range balls, cart rental for a foursome, lunch and dinner. All proceeds of the event will be donated to the Special Olympics Team of Hudson.

Rotary Club hosting June golf outing

The Stow-Munroe Falls Rotary Club is hosting a golf outing June 6 at Fox Den Golf Course, 2770 Call Road. Corporate sponsors are Albrecht Inc. and AtNetPlus.

The shotgun start is set for 11 a.m., with a putting contest to take place beforehand.

Skill prizes will be featured on every hole for men and women, and a steak dinner will be available with prizes. Foursome, twosomes and singles are welcome to golf.

Golf outing supports
local youth program

Big Brothers & Sisters of Portage County is looking for golfers and sponsors for the agency's 12th annual Charity Golf Scramble & Auction July 23 at Raccoon Hill Golf Club in Kent.

The event benefits the agency's one-to-one youth mentoring program. The cost to golf is $95 per person and $380 per foursome. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Long-drive professional Mike Zeigler, who averages 400 yards off the tee, will host a 30-minute clinic on Hole No. 1 at 8:45 a.m., providing tips to golfers. Shotgun start is at 9:15 a.m. This event is sold out annually, so early sign-up is encouraged.

Golfers receive 18 holes of golf with cart, coffee, juice, continental breakfast, cookout style lunch with sandwiches provided by Portage Frosted Foods, steak dinner, prizes and unlimited beverages.

The dinner is provided by the Kent Licensed Beverage Association and dessert provided by Baker's Square Restaurants & Pies.
