The Home and Garden Tour sponsored by the Hudson Garden Club begins its seventh decade when this year's event takes place June 19 through 20.

First offered in 1947, the event has allowed thousands of guests to tour some of Hudson's most notable and historic homes and gardens.

This year's tour features five homes, including a Greek Revival farmhouse in the heart of the village, a contemporary residence decorated in Art Deco style, a former parsonage and one of Hudson's only post-war prefabs, which was recently expanded to house the owner's collection of American antiques.

The tour also will stop at Markillie Cemetery Chapel and Memorial Gardens.

Visitors will be able to tour the grounds, which have extensive plantings, and the Chapel, which features a series of custom stained glass windows tied to local history.

Two additional gardens are included in the tour.

This year, members of the Plein Air society will be present at each stop on the tour. Visitors will be able to watch the artists as they create paintings inspired by the homes and gardens on display. Works created during the tour will be available for purchase through Hudson Fine Art and Framing, located in the Brewster Mansion in downtown Hudson.

The club's Garden Shop and Tea Room will return this year.

Located at Hudson Middle School, the shop will offer for sale many plants found in the tour's gardens, along with Hudson pinks and other plants proven to grow in the area.

The Tea Room will offer complimentary tea and cookies each afternoon.

The tour will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The Garden Shop and Tea Shop will operate from noon to 5 p.m.

Tickets for the tour are $15 pre-sale and $20 beginning June 19.

Tickets will be available starting June 2 at The Learned Owl and Acme Fresh Market Hudson.

Proceeds from the tour fund tree planting in Hudson, the Garden Club's annual scholarships and grants, and community gardening projects.
