Kimpton to host orientation May 14 Kimpton Middle School will have an orientation for current sixth-graders and their parents May 14 at 6:30 p.m. The administration and guidance department will provide a brief overview of what students and parents can expect as incoming seventh-graders this fall. Information about the "Jump Start" program in August also will be given that night. The orientation will be followed by Arts & Achievement Night. Examples of seventh- and eighth-grade student work and various projects will be on display. Cornerstone
Cornerstone Community School's 11th Annual TRY-a-thon is scheduled for May 17. Students will set individual goals for how far they can ride a bike, run or walk and then ask family and friends to pledge a dollar amount in support of their efforts to reach these goals. "All of the money raised through pledges and corporate sponsorships will go directly to support our special programs," said Nancy Pierce, CCS community relations coordinator. "These include classes in Spanish, art, music, physical education and band." The all-day event will take place rain or shine at Silver Springs Park in Stow. Registration will be from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Oak Tree Shelter. Families then will bike, run or walk on the Metro Park Trail. The festivities will conclude with an all-school picnic at the shelter. Four levels of tax-deductible sponsorship are available. Sponsors are included on the TRY-a-thon T-shirts and signs. For more information, call 330-686-8900. Academic camp registration under way Registration is open for Bulldog Academic Camp, which will take place during July 7 to 31 at Kimpton Middle School. The camp is open to kindergartners through sixth-graders. Reading and math classes will take place Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $75; registration forms have been sent home with students. Registration forms and fees must be received by June 24. Checks should be made payable to Stow-Munroe Falls City Schools and be included with the registration form. A full refund will be made only if the class is canceled. Transportation to and from Kimpton is the responsibility of the parents. Registration forms can be sent to each student's elementary school office or to Lakeview Intermediate School. For information about summer school, contact Principal Kim Lockhart at Lakeview Intermediate School at 330-689-5250. Comments
