John Chiarle

Age: 48

Occupation: Home improvement contractor.

How long have you lived in Stow? I've lived here since 1978.

How would you describe the Stow-Munroe Falls area to someone who has never been here? It's a quiet town, with a lot of nice parks, bike trails and lakes.

What is your favorite activity in the area? I like fishing in the ponds and camping. Heritage Park has a lot of big fish in its lake.

Hobbies/Interests: I coach sports for young kids.

If they made a movie based on your life, who would play you and what would it be called? Brad Pitt would play me. It would be called, "Survival of a Young Man." In one year's time, I broke my hip, got a flesh-eating bacteria, broke my foot and cut off the tops of the toes on my left foot, broke my neck and collarbone and separated my shoulder and was hit by a chunk of ice that cracked my skull and gave me a concussion.

What is your biggest accomplishment? With everything I've gone through, my biggest accomplishment is keeping my head together.

Whom do you most admire (excluding relatives)? I most admire Ronald Reagan, because he broke up the Cold War with Russia without going to war.

What is the most unusual job you have ever had? We had to rescue animals from a woman who used to do trapping. We rehabilitated hawks and owls that others weren't able to.

Something most people don't know about me is ... Most people think I'm a rough and tough person, but I'm really a teddy bear. I'm a giving person who will help anybody out.
