SAMUEL F. LICHI

World War II veteran

Samuel F. Lichi, 84, died March 27, 2008.

Born in Cuyahoga Falls, he was a lifetime area resident, recently moving to Stow. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired from B & O Railroad after 38 years and was a longtime member of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship (formerly Falls First Assembly of God), serving in children's and youth ministries and other capacities. After retirement, he took up painting as a hobby and became an accomplished artist.

He was preceded in death by son Kenneth in 1966. He is survived by Rachel (nee Clay), his wife of 60 years; children Jacquelyn (Robert) Stager of Tallmadge, Dr. Donald (Marcia) Lichi of Munroe Falls, Barbara (Frank) Jochum of Uniontown, Robert (Lynn) Lichi of Columbus, Marcella (Rodney) Louke of Cincinnati and Cynthia Lichi of Akron; 12 grandchildren, one of whom is currently serving with the US Marine Corps in Afghanistan; six great-grandchildren; sisters Josephine Scichilone, Angie Bianco and Mary Ann (Ed) Fullerton; and brothers John (Olga) Lichi and Louis (Coni) Lichi.

Visitation was at Redmon Funeral Home. Pastor Cary Wadle conducted a service at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, with military honors provided by Charles Faust American Legion Post 281. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Christian Fellowship- Building Our Future Fund.
