A 28-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man pleaded not guilty to murder today in connection with the death of his infant son.
Craig Richard Wilson appeared before Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court Judge Kim Hoover on the murder charge this morning. Jon Sinn, Wilson's lawyer, said his client pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Wilson is in the Cuyahoga Falls Jail on a $250,000 cash bond and is scheduled to be sent to Summit County Jail this afternoon. At today's appearance, Wilson waived a preliminary hearing and his case will be sent directly to a Summit County Common Pleas Court grand jury.
According to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, 2 1/2 month-old Camryn Wilson died Tuesday, March 25, at 8:17 p.m. at Akron Children's Hospital. An autopsy was conducted earlier today and the cause and manner of death were listed as "pending" to permit the completion of routine laboratory testing and review of records, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.
Craig Wilson was already facing two felony charges in connection with reported injuries to the baby.
Cuyahoga Falls police said Akron Children's Hospital notified them March 13 that they were treating the child, who had been brought in by his mother, for severe head and body injuries.
Cuyahoga Falls police detectives say subsequent investigation revealed Craig Wilson allegedly assaulted the child the evening of March 12 while caring for the infant at the infant's home.
Craig Wilson was arrested and charged with felonious assault and child endangering March 13. That portion of the case has also been bound over to a Summit County Common Pleas Court grand jury.
