Church of Stow

Service times -- First Christian Church of Stow's Sunday services include worship in the chapel at 8:30 a.m., Christian Education classes for all ages from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and worship in the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m.

Youth groups for sixth- through 12th-graders meet each Sunday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nursery care is provided during all services.

Kindergartners through fifth-graders begin worship in the sanctuary and then attend their own "Junior Church" after the Children's Sermon time.

Sermon series -- Stow Alliance Fellowship Pastor John Kitchen presents a sermon series, "That You Might Believe -- Studies in John 1-12," Sundays at 9 and 10:30 a.m.

* Stow Alliance Fellowship is offering a special Sunday School DVD series, "The Truth Project," produced by Focus on the Family. Come to consider what it means to have a biblical worldview.

The Adult Sunday School class meets Sunday before worship from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.

The Rev. Amy Shaw will be the guest speaker for UMW March 30 at the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. services. A pancake breakfast will take place at 9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.

of Christ, Scientist

Special project -- A "Read the Bible in a Year Project" is under way at the Christian Science Reading Room. An informal discussion group will meet on the second Saturday of every month to discuss the previous month's readings. Participants can join in at any time and bring along notes or reference materials to share, or just come to listen.

Methodist Church

Easter services -- Celebration of Easter will take place at the First United Methodist Church with services on March 23 at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Each service will be identical, with hymn singing, scripture, prayer, an Easter message by the Rev. Marvin Brown and music by the Epworth and Chancel choirs and a brass ensemble.

Child care is available for infants and preschoolers at each service. The church is wheelchair-accessible.

* "Crucified," a musical passion drama by the 45-member Epworth Youth Choir, will be performed at the church March 30 at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Also on the program will be a variety of anthems, all a part of the program the choir has presented in churches in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee during its weeklong concert tour during Spring Break. A free-will offering will be taken to help defray expenses of the tour. Child care will be available.

Community Chapel

Art exhibit -- From now through Easter (March 23), Pastor Brian Bales is presenting the series "Scripted: the Life of Christ," which expands of scenes from the book of Luke.

For the next 10 weeks, a Riverwood artist will create a work of art reflecting the story of Jesus' life which will coincide with the weeks' message. The art piece then will be placed in Riverwood's art gallery so each week a new piece of art will be added to the display. At the end, the gallery will be filled with these original works. Everyone is invited to view both the creation and the growing display.

Meeting -- "What it means to be Catholic" is the topic for the next "Come and See" meeting April 1 at 7 p.m. in St. Martha Parish's McKeever Hall.

The speaker will be Joyce Kelleher, former secretary for Catechesis for the Diocese of Cleveland.

Following the presentation, there will be small discussion groups to address a variety of subjects including the speaker's topic, prayer, the Sacraments, Bible basics, dealing with illness and bereavement, and divorce, annulments and remarriage.

The monthly "Come and See" programs are sponsored by the Summit District parishes of the Diocese of Cleveland.

They are intended for people who have questions or concerns about the Catholic faith or for anyone who wants to learn more about the church and its teachings.

Holy Week services -- Jesus' power over death will be celebrated on the Sunday of the Resurrection, March 23. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated.

Unity Chapel of Light

Dinner and a movie -- Unity Chapel of Light is launching a monthly pasta dinner, followed by a free movie screening, beginning March 25. The public is invited and reservations are not required.

Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and will include pasta with marinara or meat sauce, salad, bread, beverage and dessert.

The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors. The movie, "You Can Heal Your Life: the Movie," based on the best-selling book "You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay, an internationally known metaphysical lecturer and publisher, is free and will begin at 7:30. Families with infants are welcome to view the movie from the church's "quiet room."
