Baptist Church

Service times -- Sunday School takes place at 9:45 a.m. for all ages, with worship at 11 a.m. Sunday evening worship takes place at 6 p.m.

* Crestview Baptist Church is hosting a series of services each Sunday at 11 a.m. during the holiday season. There also will be a special children's program Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. On Dec. 23, the choir will present a musical cantata, "A Night to Remember," during the 11 a.m. worship service.

* Adult Bible study takes place at the church Wednesdays at 7 p.m., as does a youth group meeting and TeamKid for first- through sixth-graders.

Church of Stow

Handbell ensembles -- The church offers handbell ensembles from beginner through advanced (sixth-graders through adults of any age); singing with hands by using American Sign Language, no experience necessary (third-graders to adults); choirs for kindergartners to second-graders, third- to sixth-graders, seventh- to 12th-graders and adult; and worship band and orchestra.

* First Christian Church of Stow's Sunday services include worship in the chapel at 8:30 a.m., Christian Education classes for all ages from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and worship in the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m.

Nursery care is provided during all services.

Kindergartners through fifth-graders begin worship in the sanctuary and then attend their own "Junior Church" after the Children's Sermon time.

Communion is shared each week during both worship services.

Fishcreek Nazarene Worship Center

School of the Bible -- Fishcreek School of the Bible for all ages takes place every Sunday at 6 p.m. There is a class for everyone.

* Men's Basketball for those ages 15 and up takes place every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

* Visit the church Wednesdays for dinner from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted.

At 6:30, the church will host a time of worship, devotions and prayer.

* The church is taking registrations for Upward Basketball & Cheerleading.

This is a league for boys and girls first through sixth grades. Practices begin in January, games begin in February. Register by Jan. 3. Ask about the family discount. Cost is $75. Registration forms are available through the church office (330-673-8538).

Grace Bible Church

Service times -- Grace Bible Church meets for worship Sundays from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

The church provides nursery care in which 2- through 5-year-olds enjoy a Sunday School lesson.

The church also provides a Sunday School class for elementary-age children half-way through the service.

Lutheran Church

Dinner theater -- St. Stephen invites the community to attend its dinner theater, "Cricket County Christmas Cruise," on Dec. 14 or 15. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., appetizers will be served at 5:45 and the show will begin promptly at 6.

The menu includes ham and Hawaiian chicken with all the trimmings. Adult donation is $10, or $5 for children 3 to 12 years old.

The show is a comedy of misunderstandings when country cousins accompany their city relatives on a Hawaiian cruise. Guests are encouraged to dress for a Hawaiian adventure. Funds will be matched by Thrivent Financial. Call 330-688-7213 for tickets, which must be gotten ahead of time.

* The children's choir is looking for members. It is open to first- through eighth-graders, and it meets Wednesdays from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.

United Church of Christ

Worship times -- The Stow Community United Church of Christ hosts church services at 10:30 a.m. Children's Sunday school begins after the children's sermon. Nursery care is available for children 4 and under.

The Adult Sunday School class meets Sunday before worship from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. The class is studying the Gospel of John, and meets in the parlor. The Friendship Group is studying Max Lucado's "In the Grip of Grace." The group meets on the lower level.

* A Happy Birthday Jesus Party is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.

* A Christmas Eve Candlelight Service is scheduled for Dec. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

* A spaghetti supper is scheduled for Jan. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost for adults is $6.50, and the cost for children 12 and under is $3. Chef salad and carry-out are available.

Presbyterian Church

Service times -- Sunday service times are as follows: contemporary at 8:15 a.m.; traditional at 9:30 a.m.; and blended at 10:45 a.m.

Service times -- Worship times begin Sundays with the contemporary service at 8:30 a.m. and the traditional service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday School will be at 9:30 a.m. for all ages. Nursery care is available.

On Dec. 23, there will be "Lessons and Carols" at the regular worship times.

* Christmas Eve services will take place: at 5 p.m. (family oriented); 7 p.m. (traditional with choir); and 11 p.m. (traditional with communion).

* Jubilee Jam will present its Christmas play, "Shepherds, Stars, and a Savior," Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. A birthday party for Jesus will take place immediately after the performance in Fellowship Hall.

Family Church

Noel Project -- Dwelling Place Family Church will host its first Noel Project, an outreach to single mothers, at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St in Hudson.

There will be live Christmas music, a puppet show for the kids, and more. Each family who attends will receive gifts for the children, a family gift, a turkey, and a food basket for their Christmas dinner.

* Dwelling Place Family Church will offer Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University Jan. 3 to March 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Via video, Ramsey, a bestselling author and financial counselor, leads a step-by-step process to help others meet financial goals. There will be lessons on eliminating debt, building wealth and more.

First Church
of Christ, Scientist

Special project -- A "Read the Bible in a Year Project" is under way at the Christian Science Reading Room. The public is invited to join church members of First Church of Christ, Scientist as they read through the Bible in one year. Visit www.forministry.com/usohcocscfco1 to view the daily readings. An informal discussion group will meet on the second Saturday of every month to discuss the previous month's readings.

Participants can join in at any time and bring along notes or reference materials to share, or just come to listen. The group meets at the Reading Room connected to the First Church of Christ, Scientist, at 2390 Fourth St., Cuyahoga Falls, across from the Natatorium.

Methodist Church

Breakfast with Saint Nick -- Breakfast with Saint Nick is Dec. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, in Wesley Hall. Pictures are available with Saint Nick for $5 or free with an unwrapped toy brought for Toys For Tots. There will be Christmas crafts available and a scrumptious brunch which is $5 for children and $7 for adults.

* Renaissance Ringers, a bell ringing group from the community, presents two concerts at the church on Dec. 9 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

* The Chancel Choir and Orchestra at the church is presenting selections from the Handel's Messiah on Dec.16 at 7:30 p.m. Child care is available. That evening at 5:30 p.m. in Wesley Hall, there will be a smoked pork loin dinner served by Chef Bill Bailey. The meal is $8 for adults or $4 for children.

St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church

Fall worship schedule -- St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2121 Sixth St., Cuyahoga Falls, has begun its fall worship schedule.

Each Sunday, two traditional worship services will take place, the first at 8:30 a.m. and a second at 11 a.m. Communion will be offered on the first, third and fifth Sundays of each month. Children's Sunday School will take place during the 11 a.m. service. The children will begin worship with their families and stay through the children's sermon. They will then go to their respective classes.

* St. Luke's choirs are set to resume their participation in the worship services.

The Chancel Choir sings at the 11 a.m. worship services each Sunday and at special services throughout the church year.

The Handbell Choir sings Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to join either or both of these choirs.

Presbyterian Church

Worship services -- Pastor Ross Slaughter continues with his series at United Presbyterian Church on modern day discipleship with a message entitled "Look At All The People" drawn from Luke 10.1-12; 17-20. At one point, Jesus had 72 disciples on His "ministry staff," showing that Jesus calls many people from all walks of life.

Traditional worship begins at 8:30 a.m. and the New Creation contemporary service begins at 11 a.m. Featured to sing will be the Children's "Cherub" Choir. The Educational Hour is between the two services, beginning at 9:45 a.m. with small group ministry for all ages. Child care is available on Sunday morning. All are welcome to attend.
