NORMAN W. MADSEN

World War II veteran

Norman W. Madsen, 84, died July 16, 2007.

Mr. Madsen was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Princeton, Minn., to John and Lena (Broughton) Madsen.

During World War II, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces and served in the 385th Bombardment Group of the Eighth Air Force, which was stationed in England. As the radio operator on a B-17, he safety completed 28 missions over enemy territory. Mr. Madsen was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters and other medals. He and his family moved to Stow in 1967, and he was a teacher until retiring in 1985.

Mr. Madsen was preceded in death by his brother Jennings (Virginia); and sisters Adella (Clarence) Livgard, Lorraine (George) Nelson and Viola. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine; children Larry and Linda; brother Lester; and sister-in-law Lillian.

A private service and interment took place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Donations may be sent to Christian Aid Mission, P.O.
