STOW -- A Hibbard Drive man has been charged in connection with the alleged robbery of a pizza delivery driver at the man's home June 18.
According to Stow Municipal Court records, 45-year-old Matthew R. Guzik was arraigned on a first-degree felony aggravated robbery charge June 19. He is scheduled for a June 27 felony status hearing and bond was set at 10 percent of $250,000. He was being held in Summit County Jail.
Stow police said the delivery driver reported that when he arrived at Guzik's home to deliver a pizza a little before 7 p.m., Guzik rushed out the door at him with a large knife and demanded all of his money. Guzik then took the driver's vehicle, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, and fled the scene in it, said police. Police said the driver was not injured. In a news release, Stow police said Guzik told the driver he was robbing him "because of his marital problems and that he was feeling very angry."
Guzik was seen on the Route 82 bridge near the Cuyahoga County line around 12:04 a.m. June 19 and Sagamore Hills and Brecksville police responded and arrested him without incident, according to Sagamore Hills police, who said he had parked the car in a nearby residential area.
