An Akron man has been arrested in connection with the shooting deaths of two people at a Ravenna apartment complex early Saturday morning.

One of the victims was Austin J. Tiller, 20, of Cuyahoga Falls, a 2014 graduate of Stow-Munroe Falls High School.

Javon M. Thomas, 26, has been charged with murder and is being held in the Portage County jail on a $1 million bond. Additional charges may be filed, police said.

According to Ravenna police, officers responded at about 4:35 a.m. Saturday to reports of a shooting at the Woodgate North Apartments, located off North Freedom Street on the city's east side. They say Thomas shot and killed Mr. Tiller and Brian K. Brack, 24, of Canton during an argument in an apartment at 731 Woodgate Blvd. Tiller and Brack suffered gunshot wounds to their chests and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Michael Halas, chief investigator with the Portage County coroner's office. Destany Dixon of Ravenna, 21, also was shot, but suffered non-life threatening wounds, police said.

Mr. Tiller is the son of Wendy (Bob) Knepper and Wallace (Sarah) Tiller. Calling hours will be Friday, Jan. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, where a funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 14. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in Streetsboro. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Thomas' preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Friday in Portage County Municipal Court in Ravenna.

Ravenna police are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking that anyone with additional information call 330-296-6486.
