Citizen's academy offers look at police operations

A free multi-agency citizen's academy will once again be offered this fall under the sponsorship of Western Reserve Hospital.

The police departments of Munroe Falls, Cuyahoga Falls, Tallmadge, Stow and Silver Lake will be joining together to give local residents an opportunity to see and experience how their local departments operate. The course will include such topics as: canine, DUI enforcement, use of force, narcotics trends and other police-related issues. The classes are slated to start Sept. 21 and will be on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. through Nov. 9. Class size is limited. Munroe Falls Fire Chief Lee Chafin and Police Chief Jerry Hughes would like to treat you to a cup of coffee and a provide a little time to get to know each other while sharing conversation, thoughts and ideas with each other.

They will be at the Lehner Community Center, 35 S. River Road, on Sept. 27 from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
