Second shooting in two days in Ravenna area sends man to hospital

For the second night in a row, gunshots have rung out in the Ravenna area, this time sending a Summit County man to the hospital with a leg wound.

Portage County sheriff's deputies are investigating a non-fatal shooting that took place Tuesday night on Garfield Road in Ravenna Township, the sheriff's office announced Wednesday.

Portage County Sheriff David Doak said that at approximately 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, his office received a call reporting that a man was lying on the ground in the area of the King Kennedy Center, 6660 Garfield Road.

The sheriff's office identified the victim as Cameron M. Miller, 30, of Stow. He suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, and was transported to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna by the Ravenna Township Fire Department.

Miller's injuries were not life-threatening, the sheriff's office said. °

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the sheriff's office at 330-296-5100, ext. 0 (zero).

It is the second time in two days that a shooting was reported in the Ravenna area. The Ravenna Police Department is investigating an incident where shots were fired in the area of North Meridian Street and West Locust Lane in downtown Ravenna at approximately 11:25 p.m. Monday.

Anyone with information on that case -- or an Aug. 19 drive-by shooting at the Fuel Time/Clark gas station on South Prospect Street -- is asked to call Ravenna police at 330-296-6486.
