Stow -- A pair of related accidents involving three vehicles caused some traffic slowdowns for more than an hour on Route 8's northbound side July 27.
Stow Police Lt. Mike Titus said there were possible injuries, but the individuals involved said they would seek medical attention on their own and Stow EMS did not transfer anyone to a hospital. Two of the road's three lanes were closed to traffic until the scene was cleared at 12:44 p.m.
Titus said police and fire units were dispatched at 11:34 a.m. The mud flaps, along with the support they were attached to, fell off a large truck for unknown reasons between Steels Corners and Seasons roads and two cars behind it swerved to the right to avoid the debris, with one striking the rear of the other, said Titus. Two more cars then swerved to the left without mishap, said Titus, but another car swerved to the right and struck the rear of the car that had previously struck the rear of the first car.
The drivers of the two cars that collided with the vehicle in front, an 86-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man and a 48-year-old Munroe Falls man, were both cited with assured clear distance ahead, said Titus.
