The Stow Symphony Orchestra announces its Winter concert offering. Under the baton of Music Director Darrell Lee Music the concert will be performed at the Tallmadge Alliance Church, 1155 East Ave, Tallmadge, Ohio, on Saturday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m.
The program will feature:
J.S. Bach's “Organ Fugue in A Minor”, Arranged by Darrell Lee Music
Not as famous as some other Bach organ works, the Prelude and Fugue in A-Minor is the equal of the best of them. Maestro Music arranged the “fugue” specifically fpo the Stow Symphony.
Karl Jenkins’ “Palladio”--Concerto Grosso for Two Violins and String Orchestra, featuring Ian McIntyre and Gallo Arboleda, violin
Palladio was inspired by the sixteenth-century Italian architect Andrea Palladio, whose work embodies the Renaissance celebration of harmony and order. The first movement was adapted and used for the DeBeers’ A Diamond is Forever television commercial.
Ludwig van Beethoven's “Symphony No. 5 in C Minor”, Op. 67
The Symphony was written between 1804–1808. It is one of the best-known, most frequently heard compositions in classical music. The 4-note rhythm of the opening phrase – "dit-dit-dit-dah" - is known worldwide, with the motif appearing frequently in popular culture, from disco versions to rock and roll covers, to uses in film and television.
Tickets for the upcoming concert, available at the door, are priced at $12 for adults, and $9 for seniors and students. Children under 12 are admitted free.
