In preparation for fall classes and to say goodbye to summer, Weathervane's education department will have a free education carnival Aug. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. Offerings include face painting, crafts, prizes and even a special meet-and-greet with a princess.

"Weathervane's second annual Education Fair will highlight the new offerings for fall as well as an afternoon of fun," said Weathervane Director of Education Sarah Bailey. "We have added several intermediate level drama classes and some new Broadway jazz dance classes. There is something for every level and every interest for theater."

The Richard and Leslie Lund Scholarships are offered through the donations of the Volunteer Guild of Weathervane Playhouse and the Millennial Fund from the Akron Community Foundation. Applications are available at http://www.weathervaneplayhouse.com/youth-scholarships.

Classes are on Saturdays at Weathervane Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane in Akron, beginning on Sept. 17 and run through Nov. 19. The program culminates with a final class performance, at which students show what they have learned to family and friends. To register for a class visit www.weathervaneplayhouse.com/youth, or call 330-836-2626. Class sizes are limited.
