The Blossom Friends of The Cleveland Orchestra hosted a dinner at Knight Grove on the Blossom Music Center grounds prior to the concert. This event started with cocktails at a cash bar followed by a steak and salmon buffet dinner.

Among the 132 guests attending were executives and trustees of the MAA, the new Executive Director of the orchestra, Andr Gremillet, and two Ohio senators, Yuko and LaRose who graciously supported the Capitol Budget Issue which supports the arts in Ohio.

The Cleveland Orchestra led by its conductor Franz Welser-Mst began the concert with Thomas Ades, Overture, Waltz, and Finale from Powder Her Face. This suite was created in 2007 from the opera composed in 1995.

Bela Bartok's beautiful Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta came next.

After intermission, the orchestra performed Ludwig Van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 ("Eroica") in E-flat major, Opus 55. It is also referred to as Beethoven's Heroic.
