Fishcreek Elementary School, part of the Stow-Munroe Falls City School District, has partnered with Circle K Convenience Stores to participate in the national Fueling Our Schools program. Through this program, Circle K will donate up to $2,000 to Fishcreek Elementary.
"We saw this program as a perfect opportunity to raise additional money for our school and to connect with our community," said Joanne Brookover, principal at Fishcreek Elementary.
Schools choose four areas for the quarterly donation to be allocated, such as technology, resource classes or teacher incentives. All schools participate in two national Fuel Up Nights at Circle K where 10 cents per gallon of fuel purchased at Circle K between 4 and 8 p.m. will be donated to the school. Every other day during the school year, Circle K will donate one cent per gallon up to $500 per quarter.
The program will launch on Oct. 21 with the first Fuel Up Night. The second Fuel Up Night will be May 5, 2017. Everyone who wants to participate in Fuel Up Night must fill up at the Circle K gas station on the corner of Stow and Fishcreek roads in Stow. Parents, faculty and staff can turn in their Circle K receipts all year to enter for a chance to win two $50 Circle K gift cards. The drawings will take place four times during the year when the quarterly donation is made to the school.
Fishcreek Elementary plans to use the additional funding for student awards and incentives, school supplies, classroom materials and to support school spirit.
"We are excited about the launch of this program," Brookover said. "It will be great to get the community involved in a practical way and to get extra funding for supplies and materials for the students. I think it's going to be a great program and hope that as a school we can continue to participate."
