Plans are underway for the 59th Stow Fourth of July Parade, which will be July 4. The city of Stow and the Kiwanis Club of Stow-Munroe Falls are sponsors of the event. The committee is planning for this year's parade to be the biggest and best so far, and is anticipating over 120 entries in the parade, and tens of thousands of viewers attending.

The theme for the 2017 parade is "Salute to Our Veterans."

The Parade Committee is still finalizing the selection of this year's parade grand marshal. Keeping with the theme of "Salute to Our Veterans," the committee is attempting to find the oldest living veterans in the community. If you have information or knowledge of someone who might possibly be one of the oldest living veterans in our community, contact Stow Parks & Recreation at 330-689-5100 or email stowparade@stow.oh.us.

The deadline to register as an entry in the parade is May 31. Entries must be received by that date to be considered for this year's parade. Application forms and information are available at FunInStow.com, click on Special Events, and then Stow Fourth of July Parade.

As always, the parade steps off at 10 a.m. from Stow-Kent Shopping Center and travels down Kent Road past Holy Family Church, and ends at Park Drive.

This year, the following local businesses have stepped up to sponsor the 2017 parade: Red Level -- Mickey Thompson Tires and Karvo Companies Inc.; White Level -- NMG Aerospace, StowNut DoNut and Diner and Redmon Funeral Home Inc.; and Blue Level -- Tri State Tool & Die Company, Etactics Inc. and Arbors at Stow.
