Cleveland kidnapping victim to share story at Cuyahoga Falls HS

A Night with Lily Rose Lee, aka Michelle Knight, will take place April 28 at Cuyahoga Falls High School auditorium, 2300 Fourth St. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The program is being hosted by the Six District Compact's Criminal Justice program.

Knight was 21 years old when she was kidnapped on Aug. 23, 2002, in Cleveland, according to Lee's Facebook page. "She was held prisoner by Ariel Castro, suffering abuse at his hands for more than 10 years," the page stated. "After another captive, Amanda Berry, escaped, Knight and a third victim, Gina DeJesus, were rescued in May 2013."

Lee will share her story. "Lily, formerly known as Michelle Knight, made the decision to change her name to Lillian Rose Lee, symbolizing her favorite flowers and representing patience and love," stated the website, http://lilyroselee.com. "After 11 years of captivity, Lily is looking beyond her past filled with trauma and abuse, and she is redefining her life."

Half of all event proceeds will go directly to the Battered Woman's Shelter of Akron, according to an event notice.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for students and seniors (ages 65 and older). Tickets can be purchased at the door or at lilyroselee.com/events.
