Comedy benefit supports GriefCare Place
"Dr. Laffs A. Lott" is prescribing a dose of "Laughter is the Best Medicine" on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Natatorium, 2345 Fourth St. in Cuyahoga Falls.
The event will offer a night of clean comedy benefitting The GriefCare Place. The audience will vote for their favorite comedian.
Side effects from this Rx could include hooting, howling, cracking up, cheeks from hurting from so much smiling, side pain from being doubled over in laughter and bruised knees from slapping while cackling.
All grief support groups are at no cost. All groups will meet at The GriefCare Place at 4499 Darrow Road in Stow in the Keystone Vet building entrance in rear.

Stow UMC Preschool open house
The United Methodist Church in Stow will host a Preschool Open House on Feb. 11 from10 to 11a.m.
The Stow UMC Preschool is located at 4880 Fischreek Road. The rooms will be open and the teachers available to answer any questions. They offer morning classes for 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds. The 3-year-old class meets on Tuesday/Thursday from 9:15-11:45 a.m., and the 4-year-old class meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:15 to 11:45 a.m. The 4-plus and 5-year-old class meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m to noon.

Kiwanis host author Feb. 8
The Stow-Munroe Falls Kiwanis Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for a luncheon meeting.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
All Kiwanis meetings begin at noon and usually end by 1:15 p.m.The cost is $15.
The Feb. 8 meeting will feature local author Ann Otto.
Anyone who is interested in the meeting topic or Kiwanis itself is encouraged to attend.

Velveteen Rabbit on stage
The Stow Players will present a children's beloved favorite story, "The Velveteen Rabbit."
Performances will take place Feb. 10 and 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the Stow Heritage Barn, 5238 Young Road in Stow.
Directed by Pat Robertell-Hudson, the show stars Emma Himmel, Aaron Booker, Alyssa Krokos, Pam Daerr, Dave Hinebaugh, Aidan Booker, Aleah Krokos, Cora Goold, Gillian Kilker, Hannah Kilker, Isabella Weber, Kendal Legg, Lola Thoele, Morgan Legg, Silas Thoele, Bill Shanabarger and Tammy Carder.
