This conference is free to all; teachers are strongly encouraged to attend. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with and explore assessment principles, the tools used to design these assessments and AIR tips and strategies.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by keynote speaker Dr. Dale Whittington, Shaker Heights City School's Director of Research and Accountability, who will discuss misconceptions of assessments. Fourteen breakout sessions will follow with speakers, including Dr. Donna Snodgrass, CAP Foundation President; Char Shryock, Bay Village's Director of Curriculum and Instruction; Dr. Michelle Kocar, Parma City School's Director of Teaching and Learning; Steve Miller, Summit ESC's Mathematics Consultant; Dr. Bryan Drost, Summit ESC's Director of Curriculum and Instruction; Tricia Eibner, Lake Local School's Teacher and many more. Each presentation is designed to shed light on different ways to gauge students' abilities, strategies to improve the measurement of students' academic capabilities and how to master the art of creating assessments to engage learners. Lunch is also provided, free of charge.
"We are excited to host such an important and informative conference for teachers," said Dr. Drost. "This conference will transform the way we assess students. I invite you to join us as we learn and discuss how assessment can transform the way we educate."
