Acme Fresh Market President Jim Trout presented the Good Neighbors with over $25,000 on behalf of Acme Fresh Market's customers on Nov. 16.

Over $22,000 was raised by customer donations between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15 during a food drive at Acme Fresh Market where customers had the opportunity to contribute at each checkout register.

Acme Fresh Market contributed an additional $3,000 to bring the grand total to $25,045.

"Acme Fresh Market feeds families, and we are proud to partner with Good Neighbors --- a volunteer-run organization that shares our mission. These volunteers bless the lives of many in our community by providing them with food, and we are proud to support their efforts," said Jim Trout, president of Acme Fresh Market.

"The response of our customers is heart-warming. Most of the contributions we received were in $1 increments, so the breadth of support is amazing. I think this level of giving is a huge endorsement of the great work that Good Neighbors is doing," said Katie Swartz, director of marketing.

Good Neighbors is a volunteer-run food pantry, with only one part-time paid employee, and over 300 volunteers that operate seven food pantries in Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Green, Ellet and Tallmadge.

In 2015, the volunteers contributed 42,752 hours of their time to serve others.

"We deeply appreciate the support of Acme Fresh Market and the thousands of customers that contribute to our food pantries. The food we provide makes a huge difference to many people, and it is wonderful to know that our local grocery store is committed to helping us help others," said George Camiletti, a volunteer with the organization.
