The Kids 4 Coleman are hard at work again. The eighth Annual "Spooktacular" Dessert Extravaganza will take place on°Oct. 23°from°noon to 2 p.m.°at the Coleman Adult Day Center located at°6695 North Chestnut St. in Ravenna.°

These "kids" will continue their legacy of giving and helping others.° This legacy was started by their grandparents, Stephen and Rosemarie Mandalari. They were the inspiration for Kids 4 Coleman and they were the "kids'" biggest cheerleaders. The Kids 4 Coleman has grown each year. The families include: Geopfert, Missimi, Marva, Sims and McFarlan and the Stow families of Bowen, Reilly, Spalding, Quinn and Leep.

Coleman Adult Day Services offers a program of compassionate daytime care for frail elderly and adults who struggle with physical disability or cognitive impairment.°°Approximately 75 percent of the program's participants have a diagnosed dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease, and require close supervision and hands-on assistance with their personal care needs.°°Participants' lives are positively enhanced through recreational, therapeutic, and social activities in a safe and supportive setting. They also receive nutritious meals and constant monitoring of health needs by a dedicated team of nurses and program staff.°°Stephen Mandalari benefited from this wonderful facility and his grandchildren, the Kids 4 Coleman, have all volunteered at Coleman Adult Day over the years.

This year's event incorporates a Halloween theme -- costumes are optional.°°Attendees will have an opportunity to see the facility and learn about its services during the event.° There will be lots of desserts and appetizers and silent auction items including: four Disney World Hopper Passes, two Southwest Airline tickets,°four Disney Show tickets, Step 2 and Little Tikes items, local restaurant gift cards, and so much more. This event includes lots of fun for the little ones: costume parade, trick or treating and Handel's ice cream pops (provided by Handel's of Stow). °

Admission tickets will be $15 a person or $30 for a family.
