Foundation sets dates for dress
The Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation "Rose Project" will be distributing free Homecoming and special occasion dresses and accessories on Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Dresses and accessories will also be given from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sept 28, Oct. 5 and 12, Nov. 2 and 16 and Dec. 14. Distribution will take place at Reidinger Middle School located at 77 W. Thornton St., Akron. Donations of new and gently worn dresses will also be accepted at these times.
The Andrea Rose Teodosio Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization that diligently works to demonstrate the values Andrea held close to her heart. These include compassionately assisting the underprivileged and elderly, actively addressing environmental issues and promoting community service and education.
Historical Society to hear speakers from Probate Court
Stow Historical Society's September meeting will be Sept. 26 in Stow City Hall's Council Chambers starting at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to enjoy a presentation by speakers from the Summit County Court of Common Pleas - Probate Division, Office of Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer. They will be presenting information on probate services from an historical perspective - types of records kept at Probate, unusual/oldest/interesting documents, and the process to access records. In addition, there will be information on Probate's programs and services, how to protect one's assets information on Advance Directives, and handouts to all attendees. There will be refreshments and a short general membership meeting following the presentation.
On Oct. 1 and 2 the Annual Harvest Festival will take place at the Heritage Barn from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Volunteer times are still available to help keep the historical houses open for the festival.

Stow Woman's Club to meet Oct. 6
The Stow Woman's Club will meet Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the First Christian Church on the northeast corner of Routes 59 and 91 in Stow.
The program will be Cal King with a "fun" and uplifting program. A business meeting will follow, with desserts being served.
The Stow Woman's Club is beginning a new year of fun together, eating desserts, having a banquet in the spring and most of all, working hard to support eight non-profits: Good Neighbors, Friends of Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, Stow Historical Society, Open M, Stow Blanketeers, Haven of Rest plus donated items to Freedom House in Kent and to the Battered Women's Shelter in Akron.

Falls Cancer Club hosts Night At The Races
Falls Cancer Club will host Night At The Races Oct. 22 at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Fifth Street in Cuyahoga Falls. The theme this year is Halloween. Cemetery gates open at 6 p.m. There will be prizes for Best Costume, (costumes not required). Dinner includes baked penne-baked alfredo with meatballs, sausage with peppers/onions, salad, breadsticks and dessert. Coffee and water will be provided. Bring your own beverage and mix. This is a closed event so all money, name of horses and number attending must be sent no later than Oct. 8. There will be a Chinese Auction, Halloween Pinwheels and much more. All money raised will help the Falls Cancer Club to continue assisting patients who battle cancer every day. Square dance club offers free lesson
Western Whirlers Square Dance Club is offering one free beginning square dance lesson on Sept. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ritchie Center, 109 West Ave. in Tallmadge. Additional classes will continue on Thursday evenings.
Gene Hammond will instruct. All those age 12 and older can participate.

Candidates Forum set for Oct. 6
The Leagues of Women Voters of the Akron Area, Hudson, and Tallmadge will jointly present a Candidates Forum for Summit County residents that covers open positions on the ballot for the Nov. 8 General Election.
The evening will feature three parts: first the opportunity to meet the eight judicial candidates in an informal small group setting; the second will be a similar format for the 15 Summit County Council candidates; and finally a traditional panel session with the candidates for the Executive Offices. Before the panel, the state representative (34th, 35th, 36th, 38th
districts) and state senator (28th district) candidates will speak for 3 minutes each.
The Executive Offices that will be on the ballot include: County-at-large Candidates (4), Candidates for County Engineer (unopposed), Sheriff (unopposed), Prosecutor (2) and Clerks of Courts (2), Fiscal Officer (2), and County Executive (2).
The event is Oct. 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., free and open to the public, at Cuyahoga Falls High School, 2300 Fourth St., with parking close to the entrance off of Stow Street. Women's Board of Catholic Charities to meet

Sewing guild plans meetings
The Akron Canton American Sewing Guild has meetings planned for September and October.
In Tallmadge, the group will meet the first Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. at the Tallmadge Lutheran Church, 759 East Ave. in Tallmadge. On Oct. 6, the focus will be tiny caddy/origami bowl.
In Ellet, meetings take place the fourth Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ellet Community Center, 2449 Wedgewood Drive, Akron. On Sept. 28, the topic will be a tissue cover and a small trash bag. On Oct. 26, it will be machine pedal stay. Republicans host football program
"The Values of Football - The Values of America," presented by Pro Football Hall of Fame President David Baker, will be Sept. 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Brecksville Community Center, One Community Drive in Brecksville.
The special presentation will be hosted by The Cuyahoga Valley Republicans. Admission is free. Baker will discuss the importance of commitment, integrity, courage, respect and excellence, both in athletics and in life.

Kiwanis to meet
The Stow-Munroe Falls Kiwanis Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month for a luncheon meeting.
All Kiwanis meetings begin at noon and usually end by 1:05 p.m.
The luncheon meetings usually take place at Silver Lake Country Club on Graham Road, and anyone who is interested in the meeting topic or Kiwanis itself is encouraged to attend.
