The Hudson Society of Artists' annual "Art on the Green Arts and Crafts Show" is Aug. 27 and 28.

The event is celebrating its 36th year on Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cathy Welner, founder of Art-On-the-Green (AOG), is a past president and current member of Hudson Society of Artists (HSA), a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, and a lifetime member of Whiskey Painters of America.

Co-chair and local art instructor, Paul Adams, is a member of HSA and Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, and recipient of many awards. Their aim is to present a quality show which features "all original" works of art. Each year, applicants' works are juried to maintain freshness and professional quality.

Art-on-the-Green is a free rain-or-shine event on Hudson's hilly, tree-shaded South Green. Located at the corners of Routes 303 and 91, visitors will find free parking throughout town. Paintings, jewelry, pottery, woodcarving, glass, weaving, enamel, sculpture, leather, photography, and garden decor are just some of the exciting offerings from more than 150 artists--most from Ohio and surrounding states.

Hudson Society of Artists honors its major contributor to Art-on-the-Green, the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation. Fees paid to HSA from all AOG food vendors also support the Hudson community with donations made to non-profit interests such as Hudson High School's art scholarships, July 4th fireworks, and more.

Additionally, HSA gives to the Ohio Watercolor Society.

The upper-level food court offers a variety of fare from Rotary, Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis, Hershey's ice-cream, and Hanson's Original Kettle Korn.

The Juror of Awards this year will be Christopher Leeper from Canfield. Leeper graduated from Youngstown Sate University in 1988 with a BFA degree in graphic design and now serves as a member of their adjunct faculty in the Department of Art. He was President of the Ohio Watercolor Society from 2008 to 2012, has authored "Realism in Watermedia" by North Light publishers, illustrated four children's books, and has been featured in several books and publications including "The Artist's Magazine," "American Artist," and "Ohio Magazine."
