Truck hits bridge: A 71-year-old Akron man was cited with wanton and willful disregard of safety after the bed of a dump truck he was driving lifted up while he was southbound on North Munroe Road and struck an overhead Summit Metro Parks Bike and Hike Trail pedestrian bridge, causing unspecified damage, at about 3:30 p.m. June 30. No injuries were reported to the man. Police said the man told them he was unaware the bed was lifting up.
Boys charged with felonies: Three Stow boys, two age 16 and one 17, were charged with fourth-degree felony theft and complicity to commit theft and misdemeanor theft and criminal damaging June 24 in connection with several reported incidents occurring June 13 or 14, including the theft of a $15,000 camping trailer.
Police said the boys were arrested at the Stow Police Department following an investigation.
According to police reports, a Hudson man reported someone took his trailer from outside a business in Commerce Drive's 1400 block.
In addition, an employee of Streetsboro construction company reported someone took tools and three fire extinguishers totaling nearly $4,900 in value from a construction site in Prosper Drive's 4600 block and a Stow man reported someone took his $350 12-foot aluminum fishing boat from outside another business in Commerce's 1400 block.
Another employee of the construction company reported someone spray painted graffiti on the Prosper building under construction. The employee said drywall would have to be replaced for an unspecified cost.
The boys were each released to a parent pending notification of a Summit County Juvenile Court date.
Money taken from car: A woman reported June 22 that someone took $200 and a $20 wallet from her car while it was outside her home in Uniondale Drive's 1900 block since the evening before. A police report did not indicate whether the car was unlocked or damaged.
Juveniles charged in clothing theft: Seven juveniles were charged with misdemeanor theft after an employee of a business in Kent Road's 4200 block reported they tried to taking clothing totaling nearly $900 in value June 22. Police said a Cuyahoga Falls boy and a Akron girl, both 16, were summoned to appear in Summit County Juvenile Court and each released to a parent. The others, including two Stow boys, ages 15 and 17, two other Cuyahoga Falls boys, ages 14 and 16, and a Tallmadge girl, 16, were referred to Stow Youth Services in lieu of filing the charge in juvenile court and released to parents.
Change taken from vehicle: A man reported June 16 that someone took about $7 in change from his unlocked vehicle while it was outside his home in Silver Springs Drive's 2400 block during the night.
Unlocked vehicle entered: A man reported June 16 that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took an unspecified amount of change while the vehicle was outside his Chickadee Circle home during the night.
Cash and watches taken: A man and woman reported June 13 that someone took $200 in cash and two watches totaling $150 in value from their unlocked vehicles while they were outside their home in Lillian Road's 1600 block during the night.
Light pulled out of ground: A woman reported June 24 that someone pulled a landscape light out of the ground in her front yard in Lake Breeze landing's 5000 block during the previous week.
Eggs thrown at homes: Two city residents reported June 13 that someone threw eggs at their homes during the night.
A man reported eggs were thrown at his home, with a $50 plastic window cover broken, in Lynnwood Drive's 2200 block at around 1 a.m.
A woman said several eggs struck her home in Beckley Road's 4100 block at around 2 a.m. No damage was reported in that case, but the woman said this has happened before.
Police said there are no suspects.
Discharge of fireworks
Man reports hearing fireworks: Police said they are investigating after a man reported hearing fireworks near his home in South Wrens Circle's 2400 block at about 4:20 a.m. June 23. Police said they found some used fireworks and one unused "Roman candle" that were taken as evidence.
Mailbox damaged: A man reported June 16 that someone damaged his mailbox of unspecified value outside his home in Fishcreek Road's 4800 block during the night.
Tire slashed: A woman reported June 13 that someone slashed the $200 spare tire on the back of a vehicle outside her home in Englewood Drive's 3100 block during the previous two days.
